The Story Behind Coma Arepas
Coma Arepas is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of flavor, heritage, and unapologetic brunch culture. Founded by Venezuelan chef Julio Machado, Coma Arepas brings together bold street food and comfort classics with a fresh, all-day brunch twist. Located in Kenner, Louisiana, Coma Arepas has become a go-to spot for those who crave real flavor and a good time.
Chef Julio was born in Caracas, where he grew up surrounded by strong flavors, family kitchens, and the unmistakable rhythm of Latin food culture. OVER THE YEARS, he worked in some of New Orleans’ most diverse kitchens. AS A RESULT, he developed a deep respect for bold, regional flavors. THAT’S WHY Coma Arepas reflects both his roots and his love for the local scene.
From deep-fried arepas and hand-rolled tequeños to juicy pepitos and hearty breakfast bowls, everything at Coma Arepas is crafted with purpose. IN ADDITION, our dishes are made from scratch, seasoned from the heart, and always served with attitude.
At Coma Arepas, brunch isn’t just a time of day—it’s a mindset. WHETHER you’re here for a quick bite or spending a long morning with friends, we bring the same energy: good food, bold flavors, and no pretension. FURTHERMORE, we believe in making food that’s memorable and rooted in real tradition.
What makes Coma Arepas different? It’s simple. WE COOK with real ingredients, we serve with soul, and we proudly represent Venezuelan culture with every plate. BECAUSE OF THAT, our customers keep coming back—not just for the food, but for the feeling.
ABOVE ALL, this is Coma Arepas: flavor with attitude, brunch without borders, and a kitchen that always feels like home.
